CDPHP
Evolves Around You.
Capital District Physicians' Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP), a regional health plan based in Albany, NY, sought to re-brand itself from merely an HMO to a health plan that had significantly expanded its product portfolio and changed to meet the needs of its customers, both employers and consumers.
The challenge was to develop a new brand strategy along with a new positioning statement. This strategy would then be translated into a new consumer advertising campaign, business to business advertising, and a complete redesign of all collateral. All of this needed to be done within a ninety day time frame.
We developed the positioning statement "Evolves Around You" and designed an entirely new branding strategy and experience for CDPHP customers. The consumer campaign utilized television, radio, outdoor, and bus wraps, as well as a business to business campaign including magazine ads, business print ads, radio and direct mail. Over 20 collateral pieces were also designed.
The new position was very well received by both consumers and employers. CPDPH also reported a positive change in employer perceptions of the plan and an increase in new business and retention of accounts and members.
Saratoga Care
The Magnet Award
Saratoga Care operates Saratoga Hospital and several other medical facilities serving Saratoga Springs and the surrounding areas. The organization lacked a strong brand/position in the marketplace and was attempting to overcome poor public perception based on several problem outcomes many years ago.
Based on focus group research, we developed positioning statements and creative concepts for branding and clinical ads. Each concept gave the organization a strong, distinct position in the market place, but had the flexibility to be used for a variety of clinical services. It also was easily translated and used in media vehicles such as radio, outdoor and television.
Albany Medical Center
The Pillars Campaign
The Albany area's leading medical facility and Teaching College, Albany Medical Center (AMC) was to embark upon a $100-million fundraising campaign. We determined that the key to success for AMC was in highlighting benefits from an emotional perspective. After all, the decision to donate is purely an emotional and very personal experience.
With the Pillars in front of the Center being a recognizable landmark and AMC's long tradition of serving the community, the event was ultimately called "The Pillars Campaign." This worked on several levels, with recognizable pillars serving an important graphic function within the campaign, and AMC being known as the pillar of the community, leading to an important community crusade in the drive for needed funds.
In addition to creating the event theme, we produced the event along with several video programs and television advertising. Potential donors were reached effectively through PR, direct sales, special events, advertising and collateral. We branded the event with a tag line, which embodies the critical reason to donate: Imagine life without Miracles.
The Pillars Campaign was applauded as a highly successful campaign by the client, and exceeded over $150 million by the Fall of 2004.
Albany Medical Center
The Heart Institute
Albany Medical Center (AMC) launched its heart transplant program as part of their existing Heart Institute several years ago. While the Heart Institute included the full spectrum of cardiac care, the success and growth of the transplant program quickly over-shadowed the other clinical services of the Heart Institute giving the public the perception that AMC was not in the cardiac field with the exception of transplants.
The challenge was to reposition AMC and the Heart Institute in the minds of consumers as the best and preferred choice in the region to go for all cardiac care. This was done very successfully. through strategic and creative development utilizing radio, television, video and print ads to re-introduce the Heart Institute to consumers.
